For the Vegetable Quality Lab in Bergschenhoek, we are looking for a precise and hands-on allround laboratory assistant. In this temporary position, you will make an important contribution to various research and quality projects. Good work!
About the function
As an allround laboratory assistant, you support daily laboratory activities within the Vegetable Quality Lab. You perform routine measurements and prepare vegetable and fruit samples for further analysis. You work with sensitive measuring equipment and follow fixed protocols to ensure reliable results. After an onboarding period, you will work independently within a small, well-organized team. The role requires accuracy, flexibility, and a practical mindset.
Responsibilities
- Collecting samples from external greenhouses and open-field cultivation sites.
- Receiving, selecting, labeling, and storing incoming vegetable samples.
- Transporting selected materials to external parties.
- Instrumental assessment of product quality (e.g. weight, size).
- Performing measurements of color, shape, and fruit or flesh firmness.
- Preparing samples for advanced analyses by colleagues.
- Daily use and maintenance of analytical laboratory equipment.
Working Hours
- 4 to 5 days per week
- Maximum of 38 hours per week
- Start in March; exact start date and schedule to be agreed upon
What we need
- Minimum MBO (secondary vocational) education level.
- Good communication and computer skills.
- Good command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Own transportation and own accommodation in the Bergschenhoek area.
- Physically able to regularly lift 5–15 kg.
- Accurate, independent, and practically oriented.
