The journey to good work: from order picker to process manager business units

The promise of making good work available for everyone is the common thread at Carrière every single day. Every colleague working at Carrière goes through their own personal journey. Yeshano's journey, as process manager at Carrière, shows what mutual respect and commitment mean within our organization. The daily contributions of our people show how we are building together toward our ultimate goal: making good work available for everyone.
From order picker to operations manager
What started as a part-time job at the Albert Heijn Home Shop Center, alongside his studies in Architecture, turned out to be the starting point of a much larger journey for Yeshano. "I wanted to grow from day one," he says with determination. Thanks to his dedication and initiative, he quickly stood out. After working as a trainer, he climbed the ladder to become team lead of the flex team.
When the temp agency he was working for stopped its collaboration with Albert Heijn, Yeshano was faced with a decision: stay or switch? He chose Carrière. "At my previous agency, I had hardly any contact with the team leader. When Carrière took over, it immediately felt different. There was genuine interest. Hurriyet, director at Carrière, asked me: How would you like to make a difference? That question led to several great conversations. The involvement, guidance, and the freedom to bring my ideas to life gave me instant energy."
Yeshano started at Carrière as an account specialist, moved up to become branch manager in Bleiswijk and later in Rotterdam, and ultimately became operations manager of both locations.
From operations manager to process manager of business units
His next step took him to Carrière’s head office. As a business advisor for implementations, he guided the onboarding of new clients. “That was a completely different world,” he reflects. “I dove into processes and systems, and I gained insights into everything that happens behind the scenes in the world of staffing.”
Today, Yeshano works as process manager for business units within the Business Process Management (BPM) department. He is responsible for optimizing processes across all nine Albert Heijn units and strengthening collaboration between them. “Every day, I apply everything I have learned along the way: from the workfloor to management.”

Good work with Yeshano
He never finished his architecture studies, but the work experience he gained turned out to be just as valuable. “If I can offer one piece of advice: keep your eyes open for opportunities. And if doors don’t open automatically, push them open yourself. At Carrière, you get that space. However you have to show that you want it.”
