The journey to good work: from Kazimierza Wielka to Brielle 

For Gosia, that journey began more than fifteen years ago in Poland. At the time, there were few job opportunities and wages were low, therefore she decided to take the leap and travel to the Netherlands by bus. It was an exciting adventure for her. She knew a few people, but had no idea what to expect. “I had never worked so far from home before, and the Dutch language was completely unfamiliar, but I knew I had to do this to support my family,” Gosia explains.

From production worker to all-rounder
Gosia started as a production worker in a factory where she packed tomatoes. It was hard work, but she managed to support herself and even had enough left over to occasionally surprise her family with small gifts. After two months, she moved up to the role of quality controller.

What followed were several new challenges: she worked as a picker in a greenhouse, then in a bakery, and eventually as an order picker in a distribution center of one of our clients, where Carrière has an inhouse location. There, she was eventually offered a permanent contract as an all-rounder.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Gosia became pregnant, which gave her the space to reflect on her future. She realized she wanted to continue growing beyond her role as an all-rounder.

Good work at Carrière
Carrière gave her the opportunity to start as a recruiter, an entry-level position where, despite having no experience in recruitment, she was given every chance to grow.

I received several offers, but only Carrière looked beyond my CV. They saw what I was capable of achieving. That gave me confidence.

After a year as a recruiter, Gosia developed into the role of office manager, where she further developed her talents. Her manager gave her the freedom to shape the role in her own way, which motivated her to take on even more responsibilities.

Today, she organizes events, manages branding and the interior design of Carrière’s offices across the Netherlands, and remains closely connected to her colleagues. As office manager, she also ensures the smooth operation of the headquarters in Rotterdam.
