The journey to good work at Albert Heijn: Sandra's story

17 February 2026 - News

At one of our largest clients, Albert Heijn, we see every day how much impact we create together. Right there, in the dynamics of the workplace, stories emerge that show what good work really means. Not as a slogan, but as something we live and deliver every single day.

With our series Good work within Albert Heijn, we bring these stories to life. We share growth journeys of colleagues who once started as flex workers and, through commitment, talent and the right guidance, progressed into leadership roles. This time, we spotlight Sandra. Branch Manager at Albert Heijn Online in Amsterdam.

About ten years ago, Sandra moved from Poland to the Netherlands. After a short period in the fruit and vegetable industry, she started working at Albert Heijn. That marked the beginning of her journey to good work. Step by step, she progressed. From order picker to buddy, from team leader to flex coordinator, recruiter and planner. This broad experience formed the foundation for her role as Branch Manager in Utrecht.

In Utrecht, Sandra knew exactly what was needed to get teams moving. She understood the processes, identified opportunities and worked with clear goals and agreements on the work floor.

The step to Albert Heijn Amsterdam
After her time in Utrecht, Sandra was asked to move to Amsterdam. A location that required leadership and a strong focus on delivering results. “I was asked to come to Amsterdam at a moment when the team was ready for development,” Sandra says. “I immediately thought: this challenge is for me.”

Results-driven
When Sandra started in Amsterdam, it quickly became clear what the team needed. “There was little clarity around roles and responsibilities,” she explains. Looking back on the past months, she feels proud. Today, there is a team that works independently and delivers visible results.

That is exactly what gives Sandra energy. Team members who grow in responsibility. Clarity on the work floor. And taking steps together that translate into daily performance. “Seeing my team grow motivates me every day to keep moving forward,” she says.

Good work together with Sandra
Sandra has been living in the Netherlands for ten years now. She has built a home here, started a family and has a job she is proud of. She wants others to experience the same growth. “Everything you want to achieve is possible,” she says. “It depends on your motivation and the goals you set for yourself.”

That is why she always looks closely at commitment and potential on the work floor. At people who take responsibility and show they want to move forward. Because at Albert Heijn, opportunities are there. Just as they were for her. From order picker to branch manager. Step by step, with a strong focus on results.
